Between 2009 and 2024 we created and performed 33 performances under the moniker Iraqi Bodies.

Upon entering the fifteenth year of making work an itch, that had made itself known several years before, began to be unbearable for us. We realised that we could no longer ethically operate under the conditions and pretexts that we had thus far done due to the development of our work, us as peoples and the current socio-political and geo-political situations in Europe and the Middle East.

In an attempt to dissociate ourselves from the univocal rhetoric of reductionism which aims to diminish the complex nature of our existence it was time for the snake to shade its old skin. It also seemed fitting to let the theme of prophecy act out the closing chapter of our work within the determined Iraqi Bodies and consequently begin a new one within the indeterminacy as ibodies. Looking back at the performances we had made it dawned on us that we had created 33 pieces thus far. As such, the aspect of the thirty-third revealed its poignancy as the prophetic number that it is within Islamic, Judeo-Christian and Vedic cosmology (among others).
